Staff Educator / Infection Preventionist
Full time, 40 hours
Essential Job Functions
Staff development
- Develop and maintain an effective orientation program that orients new employees to Moosehaven's policies and procedures, to his/her job position, and to the facility/campus.
- Develop schedule and conduct in-service and/or training classes as required by state and federal regulatory agencies for long term care facilities that ensure a well-educated nursing service department.
- Manage required records and destruction dates.
- Standardize the method in which work will be accomplished. Arrange initial physical exams for employees and do annual physical exams as per policies and procedures.
Safety and Sanitation
- Monitor all personnel to ensure that they are following established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.
- Identify, evaluate, and classify routine and job-related functions to ensure that tasks in which there is potential exposure to blood/body fluids are properly identified and recorded.
- Ensure that all personnel performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood/body fluids participate in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing such tasks.
- Ensure that your work area is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
- Ensure that all personnel participate in all fire safety and disaster preparedness drills in a safe and professional manner. Maintain records of same
EDUCATION
- Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a registered nurse in Florida.
- Must possess an RN Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
- 2 years' experience in a hospital, long term care facility or other related health field.
- Must attend annual OSHA and CDC in-service training programs for Hazard Communications, TB management and blood borne pathogen standards.
- Must attend and participate in continuing education programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession, as well as to maintain an active status on your required license
- CPR Certification
