Position Summary

The Facilities Venue Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for day-to-day operations of the buildings mechanical equipment and maintenance of the building systems, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and other maintenance needs. They respond to daily maintenance requests and perform scheduled maintenance work around the building as assigned. They are responsible for performing all assigned duties in a safe, professional, and efficient manner according to established policies and procedures.

Work Schedule:


40 hours per week, Wednesday Saturday 8:00am 6:00pm. Assigned shifts may change depending on event needs and schedules.


Salary:


$31.10 $31.10 per hour, FLSA non-exempt


Essential Job Duties (other duties as assigned)

  • Assist with the maintenance and operation of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, equipment and building-related systems, and minor structural repairs (ceiling, floor, door, etc.).
  • Support the functional operation of fire/life safety systems.
  • Perform regularly scheduled preventative maintenance tasks to ensure all building equipment is functioning properly.
  • Oversee contractors in their work on behalf of the museum.
  • Work with external departments to understand their needs to build and maintain positive, productive and professional relations.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
  • Promote and maintain safe work practices focusing on overall safety.
  • Operate man lifts, forklifts, hand tools and other equipment essential to performing maintenance and repairs to the facility.
  • May be assigned to a single building as the sole engineer under limited supervision.
  • Participate in and contribute to the teams successes.
  • Assist with special projects as directed.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • Two (2) plus years of professional experience in the field of facilities maintenance, construction or fabrication.
  • Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Familiarity with power distribution and lighting systems
  • Familiarity with building management systems (BMS), Siemens technology preferred.
  • Experience with CMMS systems, ServiceChannel preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, comprised mostly evenings and late shift work.
  • Familiarity with scissor lifts, forklifts and scaffolding.
  • Knowledge of stage construction and event setup.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new things within the scope of assigned work.
  • Natural team player and collaborator.
  • Effective communication skills, oral and written.
  • Strong drive to provide excellent customer service internally and externally.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and navigate a variety of situations where only limited information exists.
  • Detail oriented with ability to work effectively in a dynamic, high volume, unique and multi-tasking environment.
  • Skilled in interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of employees, handle stress and stay organized, focused, even-tempered, and congenial in stressful situations.
  • Commitment to work safety, accident prevention, and the safety of co-workers.
  • Must possess a valid WA state Driver License, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience in building trades, including carpentry, patching and painting walls, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Ability to work in high and/or confined spaces.
