Shipping Manager:

Moquin Press, an established Print, Packaging and Label manufacturer is seeking a Shipping manager. This is a fulltime position with benefits located at our facility in Belmont California.

Job Summary:

The Shipping Manager is responsible for managing all finished goods inventory, logistics activities involving customer shipments, product movement between buildings and shipping personnel. This is a hands-on, supervisory role, which incorporates analysis, vendor management, leadership and continuous improvement. The Shipping Manager is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining effective processes to ensure strong internal controls, employee safety, asset protection, budgetary discipline and professional operations of the department. The Shipping Manager must solve difficult problems and maintain highly accurate finished goods inventory. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, timely and cost-effective delivery of products to customers.

Pay Rage: $65,000- $85,000 Salary based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management

  • Coordinates and manages regularly physical cycle counts of finished goods inventory with accurate results.
  • Develops and implements inventory control procedures and policies.
  • Creates and reviews procedures for distribution and inventory management to maximize internal and external customer satisfaction and minimize cost
  • Responds to the various departments within the organization who may need information regarding product deliveries, finished goods, inventory, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with financial policies and procedures such as inventory accuracy and control, returns, damages, etc.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge on company objectives, products, strategies and support activities.
  • Maintains a clean and organized finished goods warehouse.

Logistics

  • Ensure optimization of warehousing, loading, and shipping operations whilst ensuring all local operations are performed to respective quality standards and in full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and a safe workplace
  • Oversees outbound full truckload & Less-Than-Load (LTL) shipment quoting, scheduling through vendor specified carriers for nationwide shipping.

·        Interviewing and recommending applicants for hire as Warehouse and Receiving Associates

  • Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads.
  • Manage trade show freight transport to and from relevant sites.
  • Ensures safe operations of the Shipping department including operation of company owned vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensures cost effective and efficient use of freight/transportation including company owned and external freight solutions.
  • Manages and direct the shipping department personnel.
  • Identifies and prioritizes logistics needs and communicates recommendations to upper management to achieve efficient product distribution.
  • Provides data and recommendations on product tracking, route analysis, rerouting, costing and usage alternatives.
  • Facilitates movement of inventory between company buildings and plants.
  • Ensures accurate compliance of negotiated terms with freight providers.
  • Manages freight carriers to address and resolve discrepancies on freight bills and negotiate excessive charges on freight bills with our carriers.
  • Works closely with other departments to ensure effective communication and support of company directives, customer requirements and process needs.
  • Ensures work projects are completed satisfactorily and safe working conditions are maintained at all times.
  • Researches and provides freight quotations for projects that will have substantial impact on company’s future growth possibilities.

 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years of related experience working in warehousing or a similar industry
  • Forklift certification and applicable state certification for truck and/or rail operation
  • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery
  • Ability to be a team player and meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented, must be able to identify and document shipping and receiving issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, MSDS, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision in fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable communicating in person, over the phone, and through email
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, and able to work with little oversight.
  • Competent with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

 

Schedule Demands

  • General schedule is onsite M-F assignment. Employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires frequent kneeling, bending and considerable use of hands and tools.
  • Employee works on their feet and must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Employee will frequently need to walk between two buildings to carry out tasks.

  • Use of various mechanical equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, work boots, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
