Under the administrative direction of the Dean, the Assistant Dean for the subdivision is responsible for providing the Dean with operational and instructional support, including planning, budgeting, organizing, administering and evaluating faculty, programs and services. Under the direction of the Dean, Career Programs, the Assistant Dean assists in the management and supervisory responsibilities of the subdivision, with responsibility for the programs within this subdivision including the following programs: all Health Sciences and Public Services; Mechanical Technologies; Physical Fitness programs, and external partnerships. The Assistant Dean is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning.

- Assist the dean and department chair(s) with administrative, instructional and programmatic activities that are required of the subdivision.
- Support the dean in facilitating and implementing the evaluation process for full-time faculty (tenured and non-tenured), and department chairs.
- Assist the dean with the recruitment and selection of full time faculty.
- Assist the dean with the development and revision of curriculum/programs and monitor the implementation of the Curriculum Development Process for the subdivision.
- Assist the department chair(s) with the evaluation of adjunct faculty.
- In conjunction with the department chair(s) or program coordinator(s), review all syllabi.
- Develop and maintain a coordinated plan for promoting and marketing programs, courses, projects, and services of the subdivision.
- Assist the dean in the development of the course master schedule.
- Assist the dean with budget development for the subdivision, including planning and monitoring budgets.
- Assist the dean in the development and maintenance of the goals and strategic directions of the subdivision; provide supervision of support staff, lab technicians and others as appropriate.
- Coordinate, prepare and monitor the timely reporting/filing of all required reports and projects both internal and external (includes departmental, institutional, state, federal, and grant reports).
- Assist the dean and the department chair(s) with planning, implementing, and measuring assessment activities and institutional effectiveness activities.
- Hire, train, and evaluate support staff and administrators as needed.
- Represent the subdivision with other college units and organizations, participate in advisory committees, and work collaboratively and cooperatively with faculty and staff in facilitating teaching and learning initiatives.
- Actively participate in grant development efforts to support planned programs.
- Respond to student complaints as designated by the dean.
- Evaluates and assists faculty with self-study/site review preparation for program accreditation.
Education/Experience
- Master’s degree in education or in a field related to position required
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in administration with demonstrated experience in curriculum development, organizational development, management or instructional systems required.
- Successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
