What are the responsibilities and job description for the Basic Nursing Assistant position at Moraine Valley Community College?
Tutor students in BNAT/CNA content in coordination with the Director of Nursing and BNAT (Basic Nurse Assistant Training) Program Coordinators, as part of the PATH grant team. Interpret any pertinent course materials such as syllabi, course/homework instructions or any educational information that will assist in the student’s learning experience. Facilitate students’ understanding of BNAT/CNA course objectives, clarification of content, and test-taking strategies for diverse learning styles for the practical and theoretical components of their role as nursing assistants. Maintain attendance documentation of tutoring sessions and other grant reports, as required. Maintain student confidentiality according to FERPA guidelines. Tutor students at Palos Hills campus and Education Center at Blue Island primarily.
Education/Experience
- Experience in teaching or tutoring BNAT or nursing students.
- Minimum Associate’s degree in Nursing required.
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience working in medical-surgical or long-term care.
- Strong understanding of the basic nurse assistant curriculum, best practices, and Illinois State Nurse Assistant guidelines and resources.
- Active Registered Nurse Licensed in the State of Illinois.
- Previous experience as a CNA preferred.
Qualifications
- Demonstrate accountability in meeting position responsibilities and provide service excellence to students.
- Collaborate with Faculty and BNAT Program Coordinators in developing review activities that will enhance student understanding of course material.
- Assist students breakdown and simplify complex information taught in class.
