Duties
Under the general direction of the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean of Nursing oversees the department chair, faculty and program coordinators for Nursing, LPN bridge, and BNAT programs to ensure continuity, communication, rigor, and consistency in delivery of curriculum and program rules and regulations. The Dean evaluates programs, goals, and outcomes, including but not limited to : managing all IDFPR State Board of Nursing program requirements and paperwork; ACEN accreditation requirements and paperwork; annual report preparation; and program review activities. The Dean is responsible for collaborating with faculty, departments within the college, and with community partners to foster growth of the Nursing and BNAT programs, resulting in an exemplary levels of student retention and success. Externally, the Dean functions as an active member of the ICCB Deans and Directors of A.D.N. programs, I-OADN, and other related local and national agencies. Internally, the Dean collaborates with Dean colleagues in Academic Affairs and Student Development as a member of Deans’ Council and the Academic Affairs Leadership Team.
Supervises Basic Nurse Assistant Training and Nursing Lab coordinators, secretarial and departmental assistant staff and full-time Nursing faculty. Assists the department chair in the hiring and evaluation of adjunct Nursing faculty. The Dean of Nursing is dedicated to the learning college concepts by developing programs and facilitating activities that promote student success and lifelong learning. Education / Experience
- A Master’s degree or higher in (Registered) Nursing required.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a field of nursing required
- Prior teaching experience, and prior nursing administration experience in an academic environment preferred.
- Current active Registered Professional Nurse license in the state of Illinois or eligible for reciprocity (must have reciprocity by the start of employment.) required.
- Preferred : Certified Nurse Educator and AHA CPR for Healthcare Providers.
