Duties
The Veteran Support Services Specialist will assist in providing comprehensive program support and services to student veterans and dependents attending Moraine Valley Community College’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. Responsibilities include assisting with the coordination of military related benefit programs including enrollment certifications and supporting effective advisement and veteran orientation programs.
The Veteran Support Services Specialist is dedicated to the learning college concepts by organizing programs and supporting activities that promote veteran student success. Education / Experience Bachelor’s Degree required
Bachelor’s degree in Student Personnel Services, Education, Psychology, Sociology or related areas. Prior military experience a plus. Qualifications Prior work experience with veterans in a support capacity and knowledge of Financial Aid or Veterans Benefits administration is strongly preferred;must possess strong computer skills (Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Power Point); ability to work effectively with different levels of staff within the organization; demonstrated written, verbal communication skills; public speaking experience and / or experience with conducting group presentations such a workshops and / or training; ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; excellent organizational skills and attention to details; plus other duties as assigned.
