Join a leading company in the Maritime Industry in a critical role on our HR team! Moran Towing Corporation (www.morantug.com) has an exciting opportunity available as a Director, Employee Engagement and Experience in our Jacksonville, FL or New Canaan, CT office. This is a hybrid role that will require you to work in the office 3 days per week. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Chief People Officer.
Position Summary:
The Director, Employee Engagement and Experience is responsible for creating and implementing strategies to foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging workplace culture that enhances employee satisfaction, productivity, and retention. This leader will champion initiatives that support employee well-being, recognition, communication, and alignment with the organization’s mission, values, and business goals. This will include the direction and oversight of a company-wide engagement survey, measuring the levels of engagement throughout the organization. The individual will lead the organization through the performance review philosophy and supporting system integration and team harmonization between Moran’s Maritime (Tugs and Transportation Barges) and Moran’s Specialty Services Business Units (Environmental/Industrial, Dive/Construction). The Director, Employee Engagement and Experience provides consultation services and support to employees, managers, and various departments on all engagement objectives, ultimately leading the organization through the transformation of several separate silos into one organization, having an organizational impact on culture, and alignment around what makes Moran a truly great company to work for.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:
Strategic Planning and Development
- Develop and execute a comprehensive employee engagement strategy aligned with company culture and strategic objectives.
- Partner with leadership to define key engagement metrics and goals, using data to drive insights and continuous improvement.
Employee Experience and Culture
- Design programs that promote an inclusive and positive workplace culture, addressing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB).
- Lead initiatives that reinforce company values, build morale, and create a strong sense of community among employees.
- Champion the company’s culture through recruitment efforts, ensuring that new hires align with Moran’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
Communication and Feedback
- Working with corporate communications, develop and maintain channels for effective, transparent communication between employees and leadership.
- Design and conduct regular employee engagement surveys, focus groups, and feedback sessions; analyze results and provide actionable insights to leadership.
Recognition and Reward Programs
- Implement recognition programs that celebrate employees’ achievements, milestones, and contributions to company goals.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of reward programs and introduce new initiatives that drive engagement and motivation.
Well-being and Work-Life Balance
- Develop programs to support employee mental, emotional, and physical well-being, including stress management, and support for work-life balance.
- Serve as a champion and member of the wellness committee across the organization for employee wellness by coordinating resources, activities, and partnerships.
Performance Management and Development
- Lead the Performance Management Philosophy and Process. Work alongside leadership to create a working model around the importance and execution of a program that ties to effective feedback processes. (i.e., weekly 1:1’s methodology, annual performance reviews etc.
- Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to create training programs focused on personal and professional growth.
- Facilitate workshops, training, and team-building activities that foster collaboration and career development.
Data Analytics and Reporting
- Track and analyze engagement metrics, utilizing annual and pulse survey’s or other methods to provide data-driven insights and recommendations to improve engagement strategies.
- Regularly report engagement findings to leadership annually and provide recommendations for adjustments and new initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human resources management or a related field.
- Master’s degree in human resources, or Organizational Design or Operations is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 or more years in a senior level HR role.
- Minimum 10 years of strong, progressive ‘direct’ HR generalist or business partner experience
- Previous experience with HRIS platforms and data analytics.
- Expert computer skills using MS Windows 11 Office Suite and integrated/automated payroll.
- Demonstrated exceptional leadership skills.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Elevated level of attention to detail and accuracy around complex data.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work to meet all deadlines in a demanding environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work well independently and at all organizational levels within a team environment.
- Ability to travel to the various locations to engage with members or meetings, and overnight travel as required by business needs.
- This position is currently hybrid and will require a minimum of 3 days in the office.

Pay Transparency
Moran Towing Corporation offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our target pay range for the Director, Employee Engagement and Experience position is $125,000 -$150,000 per year. This pay range represents Moran's commitment to pay transparency and is a reasonable estimate of possible compensation for this role at the time of posting. The final salary for this role will be determined based on careful consideration of a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s exact location, experience, and expertise related to the qualifications.
