What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Planner position at Morcon, Inc.?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Logistics Planner is responsible for preparation and processing of material movements specifically in regards to documentation and scheduling for outbound and inbound shipments. This position will work directly with the Logistics Coordinator and other departments to ensure all documentation is accurately processed and received in a timely manner in regards to shipping, receiving, inventory and sourcing as required. This position will also serve as a backup to the Logistics Coordinator. Job is currently located in our Eagle Bridge location but will be relocating to Saratoga NY in Q2.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Freight planning and routing of orders by the most cost efficient means of transportation to stay within company budgets.
- Review, recommend and plan most cost efficient means of transportation in regards to inbound raw materials and outsourced items.
- Maintain, manage and coordinate inbound and outbound scheduling through the use of transportation management system with all Morcon facilities.
- Coordinate return shipments through cost effective means.
- Use of Transportation Management System in regards to load tendering and dispatch, freight rates and reporting.
- Instruct carrier agents and work to resolve transportation issues in regards to customer service and material management.
- Follow up with transportation agents in regards to track and trace of shipments.
- Receive and process transactions regarding imports into ERP system.
- Receive, review and report import movements to Logistics, Planning and Outsourcing.
- Communicate with 3PLs, vendors and shippers to ensure accurate and timely delivery of goods.
- Work with the Logistics team and other departments to resolve issues regarding customer service and material movement.
- Create and process shipping documentation including packing lists, bills of lading and labels as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 1 year experience within the transportation field.
- Understanding of transportation requirements, industry knowledge and terminology.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations.
- Thorough understanding of transportation modes and solutions.
- Proficient knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office; Excel and Word.
- Strong problem solving, decision making, critical thinking and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Customer service oriented with an ability to handle multiple tasks.
PREFERRED:
- Associates degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of routing and scheduling software preferred.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
