Summary
The OB/Nursery RN will perform the primary functions of a registered nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients in the department. They are responsible for antepartum, intrapartum, post-partum, and newborn care. They are responsible for promoting teamwork with physicians and personnel of other departments. Participates in performance improvement activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for newborns and infants in the nursery.
- Monitor vital signs and assess the health status of infants regularly.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation for all patients under your care.
- Collaborate with pediatricians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Educate parents on infant care practices and developmental milestones.
- Implement safety standards and protocols within the nursery environment.
- Participate in triage processes as needed to prioritize patient needs.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and documentation standards.
- Ability to operate neonatal ventilators and other relevant medical equipment.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with families and healthcare teams.
- Compassionate approach to patient care with a focus on family support.
