I. Position Title
Warehouseperson II
II. Position Description
Under supervision of Warehouse Manager, receive, store, check, fill requisitions, and deliver school materials, equipment, supplies, textbooks, mail, foodstuffs, and cafeteria cash receipts; operate a light or medium truck and forklift; assist in conducting inventories in assigned categories; and do related work as may be required.
Positions in this class are assigned to the warehouse and report to the Lead Warehouseman. Incumbents are responsible for a variety of duties in the warehouse including delivery of school materials, equipment, supplies, textbooks, mails, foodstuffs, and pick-up of cafeteria cash receipts and their deposit in a District authorized bank.
III. Example of Duties/Responsibilities
A. Receives materials, equipment and supplies delivered on purchase orders-E
B. Inspects shipments for conformity to purchase order specifications
C. Arranges for and distributes stock to various departments and schools according to requisitions; stores stock in warehouse-E
D. Loads, unloads, delivers requested materials from the District Media Center to schools-E
E. Unloads books, films and instructional materials at schools-E
F. Prepares orders for delivery-E
G. Gathers, packs, checks and shelves materials-E
H. Picks up and delivers mail-E
I. Wraps, packs, and otherwise prepares parcels of delivery schedules-E
J. Loads, unloads and shelves supplies and materials in warehouse-E
K. Marks equipment for identification purposes-E
L. Inventories supplies and equipment-E
M. Assists in the maintenance of the warehouse-E
N. Arranges and stores supplies in a systematic manner, providing easy access, safety and security-E
O. Operates a forklift-E
P. Inspects, services and maintains delivery vehicles-E
Q. Picks up and transports cafeteria monies and deposits to bank-E
R. Picks up and delivers repairable items to designated merchants-E

IV. Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
•Proper methods of receiving, checking, storing, issuing, packing and shipping procedures, and equipment
•Inventory procedures and forms
•Proper and orderly methods of warehouse storage
•Vehicle operation and routine maintenance
•Traffic laws and safe driving practices
Ability to:
•Operate light and/or medium sized truck safely and properly
•Perform simple clerical work
•Make accurate arithmetical calculations
•Maintain a time schedule for pick-up and delivery
•Understand and carry out oral and written directions
•Work cooperatively with those contacted in the course of work
Education and Experience
•Graduation from High School or equivalent
•Individuals possessing the knowledge and abilities listed above are considered to possess the necessary experience.
• Prior experience in the operation of a truck is desirable
License
•Possession of a valid and appropriate California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License
•Must have acceptable driving record and qualify for insurability by District insurance carrier; qualify and be bonded
Working Conditions
Environment:
•Warehouse environment
•Subject to driving to various District locations to make deliveries
Physical Abilities:
•Heavy manual lifting above and below the waist loading objects weighing up to 100 or more pounds
•Frequent manual carrying, pushing, pulling, lifting heavy items to load and unload trucks up to or in excess of 50 pounds
•Bending, twisting at the waist
•Reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally
•Standing for extended periods of time
•Walking and climbing
•Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer and related equipment
•Hearing and speaking to exchange information
•Seeing to read purchase orders and verify accuracy
•Kneeling, crowding, stooping or squatting
Hazards
•Driving a vehicle during adverse weather conditions
•Adverse weather conditions including extreme temperatures (below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees), high winds and occasional snow and rain

Successfully complete the District's competitive hiring process: to include testing, interviews, background checks, medical exam given by a District appointed physician (when applicable); and the submission of a Tuberculosis Certificate showing applicant free from active tuberculosis within the past 4 years. Applicants who fail to submit all required information will not be considered for employment. All documents must be legible.
