Responsibilities
- Provide feedback on daily routine inspection of machines and equipment.
- Overhauling units in the workshop after being given instruction by the maintenance Supervisor.
- Perform scheduled and allocated maintenance services and provide feedback to the Supervisor.
- Adhere to the ‘T’ card system and ensure that it is kept up to date and works efficiently.
- Inform the Supervisor of the consumables that require ordering and repairing.
- In ‘downtimes’ use the time productively to implement best practices/training
- Review drawings and blueprints to establish which materials, methods and settings are required for particular parts and processes.
- Fit parts into machinery and equipment using tools to cut, file, plane, bore and drill metal.
- Diagnose problems on the machines and report issues to the supervisor.
- Replace damaged or defective structural components as required.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols when working with machinery and tools.
- Report any potential hazards or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure a clean and safe working environment.
- Carry out other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications

- Minimum Grade 12 or Equivalent with 2-3 years of working experience.
- Ability to interpret drawings and use hand tools.
- The ability to demonstrate good problem solving and decision-making skills
- Practical skills for repairing and maintaining equipment.
- Ability to work both as part of a team and under own initiative giving regular feedback to the supervisor
- Ability to work under fast paced environment with a high level of attention to detail.
