Morgan Autism Center offers school and adult day programs and is an important resource for families and professional service providers throughout the Bay Area. Our flexible, comprehensive, and highly individualized approach has evolved into a model successfully adopted and implemented in located school districts. The updated Morgan Autism Center Adaptive Skills Trainer Program will serve adults ages 22 – 60 years old with autism and other developmental disabilities in a 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 ratio.

Position Overview
This position will help in the design, launch, and implementation of Morgan Autism Center’s Adaptive Skills Trainer Program. The Program Director provides day-to-day leadership and strategic direction to ensure the program meets best practice measures and operates in compliance with applicable California laws and regulations (including Title 17).

Reporting Relationships
This position reports directly to Josh Drake, the Executive Director.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • In cooperation with the program’s stakeholders, establishes, refines and implements the vision and strategy of the adult program
  • Supports, trains and mentors staff to focus on participant strengths maximizing their independence
  • Oversees program budget, planning, development and implementation
  • Maintains sound human resource policies and practices (Oversees and manages recruitment, retention, appraisal and discharge of personnel) to support optimal staff performance
  • Attends participant’s ISP/IPP and interdisciplinary (ID) team meetings as needed and requested by Regional Center Case Managers and others
  • Recruit, screen, hire and monitor any Program Consultants
  • Organizes and monitors the intake and continuing assessment process
  • Review required paperwork including Special Incident Reports, and Individual Service Plans
  • Ensures the rights of participants and staff are respected
  • Develops, implements and maintains program policies and procedures, ensuring that the program and facilities are in compliance with applicable sections of Title 17 California Code of Regulations and other regulatory obligations
  • Supports outreach and participates in outreach to local school districts, non public schools, Regional Center case managers, transition fairs and other events to identify potential participants and resources

Qualifications and Employment Requirements:
  • Master’s Degree in one of the following: education, psychology, counseling, nursing, social work, applied behavior analysis, behavioral medicine, speech and language, rehabilitation, marriage and family therapy, or a comparable degree in a human services field. Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA®) in good standing preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in human services delivery systems, including at least 5 years in the management or supervision of a human services delivery system. At least one year of experience in the design and implementation of adaptive skills training plans.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills that are effective with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven track record in supervision, staff management, provision of services to participants with autism or behavioral health needs
  • Track record in recruiting, developing and retaining diverse staff
  • Ability to represent the program in a professional manner at all times
  • Respects the cultural and linguistic values of stakeholders including participants, their parents, staff and community collaborators
  • Must complete 40 hour RBT training within 12 months of hire
  • Able to lift materials and physically support clients as needed
  • Has current TB clearance; certifications in CPR and first aid; valid California driver's license, clean DMV printout and current automobile insurance
  • Is able to pass a criminal background check and fingerprint clearance

Physical Demands
While performing the essential functions and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms and speak and hear effectively. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, lift materials, physically support clients as needed, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
