POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Bus Driver
LOCATION: Transportation Department
REPORTS TO: Transportation Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
Safely pick up and deliver students to their schools, activities and homes or designated provider within State and Federal laws and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be familiar with all laws and regulations pertaining to school bus transportation.
- Be knowledgeable of, promote and demonstrate high standards of safety.
- Meet pre-trip inspection requirements and maintain equipment in clean and safe operating condition.
- Follow established procedures for reporting all noted defects in equipment.
- Fuel and clean transportation vehicles.
- Exhibit satisfactory driving skills in the operation of a school bus.
- Pick up and deliver students on regularly scheduled routes, scheduled field and activity trips, in conformity with laws and regulations.
- Perform administrative responsibilities including but not limited to: development of seating charts, documenting student conduct, maintaining records, documenting maintenance related issues, working hours, logs, accident reports, etc.
- Participate in scheduled in-service training and attend relevant continuing education workshops and seminars as offered.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Transportation or Dispatcher.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- An established good driving record as determined by the employing agency
- Possess a valid Colorado CDL/P2S Class A or B license
- Pass a prescribed DOT physical examination administered by a licensed physician that has been approved by the employing agency
- Meet all requirements of the State of Colorado “Rules for the Operation of School Transportation Vehicles” (1CCR-301-26.)
- Such additions to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
