POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST ASSISTANT
POSITION SUMMARY: The speech/language pathologist assistant assists in the identification
of student needs, planning and implementation of programming for improvement of
communication skills, pre-K through grade 12.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assess referred students for possible speech, language and hearing disorders and degree of disability.
2. Incorporate assessment data into screening and staffing reports as appropriate for identification of student needs, evaluation reports and IEP planning.
3. Assist in the implementation of IEPs translating goals and objectives into specific sequences of instruction or intervention.
4. Consult with and provide information to classroom teachers that will assist in effective implementation of IEPs.
5. Monitor student progress and make recommendations for adjusting instruction accordingly.
6. Maintain positive individual, large and small group learning climates.
7. Work collegially with other professionals in consistently addressing speech/language as well as other needs of each student.
8. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of interventions, accommodations and modifications from referral through application of individualized plans.
9. Consults with and reports to parents regarding needs of their students.
10. Assist in scheduling students appropriately to maximize intervention opportunities and for the integration of education programs.
11. Communicate effectively with students, parents and other staff members.
12. Maintain necessary student records as required by state and federal regulations as well as local policies and procedures.
13. Maintain professional competence and growth through participation in district provided and self-selected staff development opportunities.
14. Perform such other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by the special education director
Salary : $50,000 - $66,200
