Job Summary
Morgan County Schools seeks a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Cook/Baker. As a key member of our food service staff, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to students and staff while maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
Main Responsibilities:
• Prepare and cook a variety of foods, including meats, vegetables, and baked goods.
• Assist in determining food quantities and adjusting recipes as needed to meet quality and nutritional standards.
• Monitor food temperatures and maintain proper sanitation and safety procedures.
• Serve food according to established guidelines and replenish containers as necessary.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances, as well as store food supplies properly.
• Train and provide work direction to others, if required.
Knowledge and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking, and baking techniques, as well as principles of quantity food service production.
• Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations related to food handling, storage, and preparation.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and direct others.
• Physical stamina to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods, as well as handle heavy objects when necessary.
• Basic math and record-keeping skills, with the ability to accurately manage cash and inventory.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities in a dynamic school environment.
Requirements:
Any combination equivalent to a high school diploma, G.E.D. certificate, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law, plus one year of experience in cooking and baking food in large quantities. Successful completion of training course for beginning school food personnel certification is also required.
