GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB :
A Junior Design Engineer will assist in custom designs for customer-specific applications for manufacturing. The engineer will be challenged with a balance of projects for active orders and work towards Morgan Li’s projects. Works to ensure all Morgan Li’s products provide a high-quality level that meets customer expectations.
The Junior Design Engineer will employ design strategies to fulfill successful execution of projects based on customer requirements. The engineer will work with other Design Engineers, Project Managers, Account Managers, and Manufacturing Engineering.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Selects commercial components and materials of construction for individual parts and assemblies.
- Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, strength of materials and other physical sciences to check and / or complete drawings.
- Revises assembly, detail drawings, and bills of material as required.
- A continuous pattern of regular and prompt attendance is required.
- Complete 3D design and 2D drawings based on specifications for each application.
- Work on “Ongoing” Morgan Li’s projects to bring new designs and production capabilities into the business.
- Generate unique design solutions for customer-specific applications.
- Generate full production documentation and bills of materials for production.
- Communicate with the production department and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve part fabrication, assembly, and testing issues.
- Handle post-production issues with projects.
- Regularly meet with the engineering team to discuss strategies to improve design practices and efficiencies to improve quality and increase throughput.
- Process ECRs to capture all changes or errors caught during production.
- Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions and creating them for other members of the team.
- Other duties, as assigned.
