Job Title: Laser Operations Lead

Reports to: General Mgr

Position Status: Full Time

Shift: Days 6am - 2:30pm

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: This is a full-time on-site role for a Laser Operations Lead at MORGAN Li located in Chicago Heights, IL. The Laser Operations Lead will be responsible for programming the sheet lasers and tube lasers as well as supervising all laser machine activities. The Laser Operations Lead will also supervise the press brake operations. The goal of this position will be to advance the capabilities of our laser and press brake operations by leveraging technology and advancing production techniques.

  • Create programs for both the tube laser and sheet lasers.
  • Utilize programming and machine capabilities to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Meet production deadlines.
  • Attend off-site training to continually gain knowledge and increase capabilities of machines.
  • Coordinate with management, engineering and other stakeholders to schedule manufacturing orders effectively.
  • Optimize production sequences, considering factors such as equipment availability, labor capacity, and material availability.
  • Monitor and adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changing priorities or unforeseen events.
  • Identify and resolve any capacity constraints or bottlenecks to ensure production targets can be met.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to industry.
  • Maintain a safe, organized depts.
  • Work in conjunction with maintenance on upkeep of equipment and scheduled PMs to minimize down time and meet schedule

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise a staff of 6 operators and setup personnel.
  • Provide training and mentoring.
  • Ensure company policies are being adhered to
  • Ensure safety rules are being followed.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Bilingual highly preferred. English / Spanish

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with programming and operating laser cutting machines.
  • Experience programming and operating press brake machines is beneficial,
  • Proficiency with robots and welding is a plus.
  • Experience with Bystronic Bysoft software or other machine offline programming.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and efficiency improvement techniques
  • Experience in metal fabrication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Effective communicator adept at collaborating with cross functional teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office and ERP software
  • Proficient in blueprint reading
  • Able to compile and analyze data for process improvements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, and/or 3 yrs experience in fabrication

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Lean Six Sigma certification and / or provable experience required.
