We are seeking a Vice President: Tax to join a growing, in-house tax team at a global FinTech company. You will play a key role in supporting the development, testing, and integration of a new wealth account platform while overseeing the day-to-day tax functions and providing critical support for tax reporting and compliance for a diverse portfolio of wealth customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance: Oversee daily and monthly tasks such as IRA, NRA, and backup withholding calculations, payment reconciliation, and income-related event analysis.
- Tax Reporting: Manage annual client reporting, including the preparation of 1099s, RMDs, 1099Rs, and 5498 forms, ensuring all tax information is accurate and timely.
- Transactional Data Analysis: Analyze corporate actions, dividend/interest payments, amortization/accretion, income allocations, and gains/losses, making necessary tax adjustments.
- Fixed Income Analysis: Analyze fixed income for bond discount, original issue discount (OID), MBS, and REMIC reporting.
- Support and Guidance: Provide technical tax advice and support to the wider team, especially on complex tax issues and discrepancies in taxlot cost calculations.
- Process Improvements: Review and, if necessary, implement new processes and controls for tax compliance, globally.
Required Experience & Skills:
- 8 years of US technical tax knowledge and experience in wealth management tax reporting.
- Experience with investment tax reporting (e.g., cost basis, capital gains, withholding taxes).
- Worked on tax compliance for investment accounts (e.g., 1099s, tax withholding, wash sales).
- Familiarity with wealth management, brokerage, or fund taxation.
- Knowledge of US tax regulations related to investments (like REMICs, MBS, OID).
- Familiarity with SQL and Maxit cost basis application (preferred).
