Summary:
The Family Office Accountant plays a key role in the success of our organization by accounting for a portfolio of publicly traded and private investments held across a variety of trusts and partnerships, preparing month-end journal entries, performing general ledger and portfolio reconciliations and preparing reports and analyses as needed. The position includes summarizing monthly activity for senior executives and family members and proactively identifying issues as they arise. The Family Office Accountant will be involved with other projects as needed and will have the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities with experience.
A successful candidate will have a degree in accounting or finance and solid technology skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and financial accounting software, ideally Sage Intacct. The individual will have a strong work ethic and client service mentality, be highly organized and attentive to detail, exhibit good communication skills and an analytical approach. Essential Duties:
Financial Recordkeeping & Accounting Operations
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records for multiple entities, including trusts, partnerships, and investment vehicles.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and record operating distribution entries for each entity.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations, portfolio reconciliations, and account analysis to ensure accuracy.
- Execute month-end and year-end closing processes in accordance with accounting standards.
- Assist in preparing comprehensive financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Maintain detailed records of investments and support reporting on portfolio activity and performance.
- Support budgeting and forecasting efforts for assigned entities to assist in financial planning and decision-making.
- Collaborate with external fund administrators and service providers to ensure seamless financial operations.
- Work closely with other accountants to process accounts payable, capital calls, and distributions, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.
- Provide ongoing support to the Senior Accountant and other family office executives, assisting with ad hoc projects and reporting needs.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
- 2-5 years of accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles, financial reporting, and investment accounting.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience working in a family office is highly preferred.
- Experience working with Sage Intacct platform is highly preferred.
- Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and complex multi-entity structures.
- Knowledge of tax regulations related to trusts, partnerships, and investment accounts.

Salary : $70,000 - $75,000
