The WM, U.S. Banks and Investment Management (“IM”) Financial Crimes Risk Team is embedded within the Firm’s business line. It is responsible for identifying, assessing, and escalating potential money laundering and reputational risk issues associated with higher risk client types. The WM, U.S. Banks and IM Financial Crimes Risk Team is considered the first line of defense and supports the onboarding, enhanced due diligence, and negative news processes for Morgan Stanley.

The Financial Crimes Governance and Program Management function is a component of the broader WM, U.S. Banks and IM Financial Crimes Risk Team. The Financial Crimes Governance and Program Management function’s key responsibilities include program governance, risk appetite and related metrics, procedure management, training and communication, and project management.

Primary Responsibilities

The Financial Crimes Program Management AVP will assist with project coordination, scheduling, agendas, documents, and meeting notes.

The Financial Crimes Governance And Program Management AVP Will

  • Support key projects and initiatives related to assessing and mitigating the Firm’s exposure to money laundering and other financial crimes.
  • Compile detailed documentation for project requirements, design, testing and implementation/post-implementation
  • Assist in project issue tracking and resolution
  • Assist with project budgeting and budget tracking
  • Contribute to relevant discussions and decisions, and assist in action item tracking, project plans, milestones, and meeting documentation
  • Track and report status on multiple cross-divisional projects/programs across divisions, functions and workstreams
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Business Leaders, Second Line, Technology, and Internal Audit

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in financial crimes/AML and/or project management
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or another related field
  • Experience supporting compliance projects

Additional Skills Desired

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation is a plus
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint/Word/Access)
  • General knowledge of AML regulatory requirements and expectations (domestic and international)
  • Strong time management and planning skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100,000 and $135,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
