Department Profile
The Fixed Income Division (FID) is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Corporate Credit, Muni Products, and Securitized Product Group. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. The Municipality Division is a market leader across a broad range of markets, with expertise in areas including Sales & Trading, Muni Capital Solutions, Muni Capital Markets, and Public Finance.

Primary Responsibilities
- Research and build statistical algorithms to price municipal bonds.
- Design A/B experiments to test out new trading strategies.
- Collaborate with the muni trading desk and other eTrading businesses on new models
Desired Skills
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics or Operations Research
- Knowledge of programming (Python and/or Java) for statistical and econometric analysis
- Experience in time series analysis and large datasets
- Knowledge of cutting-edge statistical algorithms for machine learning.
- Strong communication skills and a good sense of humor
Beneficial Skills
- Experience in a muni electronic trading or research role
- Knowledge of Muni or Corp and Market Microstructure
- Java Object-orientated development experience in a production financial context
Expected base pay rates for the role will be $1500,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
