Firm Risk Management
Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model and other risks.
Background on the Position
The role will reside within the Morgan Stanley Risk Data & Strategy (RD&S) team within the Firm Risk Management's (FRM) COO function. RD&S is responsible for the development, management and promotion of data standards, governance, and monitoring of the Risk Data Domains (e.g., Credit, Market, Liquidity, Operational Risk) to evidence compliance with internal data governance policies/procedures and with the BCBS 239 Principles. RD&S provides strategic partnership across Firm Risk and beyond to enhance risk data management.
RD&S seeks an Associate/VP for the Central Governance and Data Program Management Office. The selected candidate will be part of a team focused on partnering with Risk Domains, Divisional Data Offices across the Firm and Data Center of Excellence to develop and drive strategic solutions for data governance, data quality management and process efficiency across Firm Risk. The team's remit includes strategic initiatives related to the Firm?s overall compliance with internal Global Data Policy principles as well as BCBS 239 principles.

Primary Responsibilities:
Drive execution of complex strategic risk data quality and regulatory compliance projects with independence, ownership and autonomy
Engage and advise risk coverage teams and cross-divisional partners to identify and document data ownership, data authorities, data sourcing and data quality controls as part of Global Data Policy implementation for prioritized risk data
Assist in strategic enhancements, scope expansion, and BAU implementation roadmap for Firmwide BCBS 239 framework, necessitating cross-divisional partnerships
Identify and work on areas for improvement in processes related to risk data management
Senior management reporting and presentations
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
Undergraduate Degree or above
2 years working experience (financial institution or consulting firm is preferred)
Strong understanding of financial risk management concepts and financial products
Ability to effectively and thoughtfully communicate with a wide range of stakeholders
Strong organizational and project management skills
Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
Knowledge and exposure to US, EMEA and UK financial regulations including BCBS 239 and Basel III pertaining to risk data aggregation/reporting is preferred
