A leading civil engineering and construction firm specializing in large-scale infrastructure projects is seeking a skilled CAD Technician to join their Survey Department. This role, embedded within the Technical Office of Design, involves producing precise, technically accurate volumetric drawings and related documentation to support engineers, architects, design teams, and clients. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a historic project designed to protect communities and enhance local development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create detailed work plans, construction drawings, volume reports, and as-built plans using computer-aided drafting techniques.
- Perform earthwork and general quantity calculations from survey data to assist in billing, progress tracking, and project estimation.
- Update software, drawings, and related documents to maintain compliance and accuracy.
- Communicate design issues or potential changes to engineers and architects promptly and professionally.
- Ensure drawings align with regulations, engineering principles, and project standards.
- Maintain an organized file system for all production drawings and related records.
- Process survey data, including GPS and conventional methods, to produce accurate project details (preferred but not required).
- Provide timely responses to feedback and implement changes in a collaborative manner.
- Support project teams by creating high-quality technical drawings and documentation for various project phases.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in drafting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of CAD experience, with a strong proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Familiarity with civil engineering construction plans and the ability to interpret them effectively.
- Knowledge of survey data processing techniques (desired but not mandatory).
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Practical understanding of engineering and construction principles.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Office-based role with significant use of email, Microsoft Office, and other software tools.
- Frequent use of wrists, hands, and fingers for computer-related tasks.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and remain stationary for 50% or more of the workday.
