Position Overview
We are seeking a Lead Fire Protection Engineer with a minimum of three years of experience in fire protection engineering, ideally in a consulting environment. This role involves developing fire protection solutions for commercial, residential, industrial, and other clients, ensuring compliance with NFPA codes and regulations, conducting hazard analyses, and leading design initiatives. You will have the opportunity to oversee junior engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and play a critical role in shaping fire protection strategies for high-impact projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop fire protection engineering solutions for various industries
- Conduct hazard analyses, risk assessments, and fire modeling
- Ensure compliance with NFPA codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Review equipment sizing, P&IDs, and perform technical evaluations
- Lead fire protection submittals, drawings, and site visits
- Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM 360 to create and review design plans
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical oversight
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Fire Protection, Mechanical, Civil, or related field)
- Minimum of three years of fire protection engineering experience, ideally in consulting
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or ability to obtain one in the future
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM 360 preferred
- Strong understanding of NFPA codes and fire protection system design
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills
- Ability to travel 5-25% (focused primarily in the Northeast)
