About the Role
The successful candidate will operate various welding equipment and work primarily with different types of metals. Key responsibilities include wiring trucks, welding metals according to customer or employer requirements, installing lift gates and platforms, ensuring high safety measures while working, and examining equipment after welding.
Main Responsibilities
- Wiring trucks from front to rear lights, camera sensors, and custom requests
- Welding metals in accordance with specifications and regulations
- Installing lift gates, walk ramps, and platforms to meet customer needs
- Maintaining a safe working environment by wearing protective gear and adhering to safety protocols
- Operating heavy equipment such as industrial saws to complete tasks efficiently
- Inspecting equipment after welding and reporting any defects to maintenance personnel
- Planning and setting up welding operations before commencing work
- Interpreting blueprints and welding according to plans
- Training junior and entry-level welders to enhance their skills and knowledge
Requirements
- Candidates must be able to pass a weld test to demonstrate their expertise
- Proficiency in three or more welding materials, including mild steel, galvanneal, carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless steel is required
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in welding is essential
- Candidates should possess basic math skills, tape measurement abilities, and computer literacy
- Basic experience with hand tools is necessary
- Ability to understand and comprehend measurements is crucial
- Candidates should be able to read and interpret blueprints for special applications
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in manufacturing is desirable
- Experience working on truck bodies is beneficial
- A High School Diploma or equivalent GED is preferred
Work Environment
This role operates in a manufacturing plant environment. While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to talk or hear. The team member frequently stands, walks, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reaches with hands and arms, and lifts up to 35 pounds.
