The Staff Accountant is part of the Accounting Department in the MWG-Corporate Division
and reports to the Controller. The position is located at 500 Steed Road, Ridgeland MS 39157.
GENERAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for auditing financial documents and calculating and processing accurate and timely payments. To perform the job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Create payment files with Bank and Foreign Exchange platform
- Provide support/backup for International Claims and commissions weekly processes
- Domestic reporting review and processing
- Accounts Payable EFT processing
- Provide support for Accounts Payable check writing
- Expense Point processing of Employee Reimbursement and Corporate Credit Card expenses
- Data entry into accounting software, Accounts Payable and General Ledger
- Importing of checks: International and Domestic, to the bank for Fraud Prevention
- Daily review and response of Fraud Prevention processes
- Comply with company and department policies and procedures
- Contribute to the support of the Accounting Department as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by Department Manager
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Manager/Controller and CFO.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelors' degree preferred
- Previous experience in Bookkeeping or Accounting or related field is a plus
- Banking experience with EFT/ACH or wire payment processing is a plus
- Excel in a very high paced environment and can be flexible to multi-task
- Handle interruptions appropriately
- Have a persistence for accuracy and a flair to spot numerical errors while processing financial transactions and documents
- Intermediate to advance skill level in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Windows
- Excellent computer and data entry skills and above average mathematical skills
- Strong time management, organizational, problem-solving and customer service skills are required
- Must be able to work under pressure with multiple priorities and meet deadlines while maintaining a strong attention to detail
