DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Equipment Operator III is an experienced operator assigned to more complex projects. Operates several types of power construction equipment in order to excavate, move, and grade the earth for new construction or repair projects to water and sewer main lines. Directs others at the site to ensure safe and timely completion of the job. Expected to work under minimal supervision. Duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
- Performs full time main line and/or maintenance excavation and installation
- Operates and maintains various construction equipment in all terrain conditions
- Performs advanced sewer and water pipefitting skills including, but not limited to leak repair, mainline, and service line installations of all types and sizes
- Analyzes and organizes the work site to ensure safe and effective completion of job
- Recognizes unsafe conditions and resolves said conditions in a timely fashion. Ensures crew complies with all safety standards at the job site
- Work on call hours as established by Department head
REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver’s license along with a good driving record
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Available to work overtime and report to work after hours in response to emergencies
- Ability to work in all weather conditions including extreme heat and cold

Basic Qualifications
- Holder of a Class A or B CDL
- Minimum 5 years’ experience operating bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, front end loaders, etc.
- Experience with Pipefitting
- Knowledge of distribution and collection sysstems
