Position Description:
The Deputy Building Inspector will provide special inspection support for the Tom Bradley International Midfield Satellite Concourse South project. This role requires knowledge of multiple code requirements, effective communication, and time management.
Essential Job Duties
- Create and maintain comprehensive daily inspection reports that capture the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all construction work activities, while ensuring the reports are clear and concise to accurately reflect daily progress.
- Assist in reviewing monthly progress payment requests when assigned to a program.
- Track various changes, verify time and material work, measure, and document job quantities.
- Conduct special inspections on various disciplines.
- Possess experience, knowledge, and understanding of methods used throughout construction.
Possess valid Los Angeles City Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) Deputy Licenses in the following disciplines:
- Concrete construction
- Steel construction
- Drilled-in anchors/seismic resistance
- Spray-applied fireproofing
Hardware/Software Knowledge
- Knowledge of Project Management Information Software used for inspection/document control (i.e. PM Web, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam, etc.).
- Computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently, including change orders, submittals, RFIs, and other inspection documents, with minimal supervision.
Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications
- 5 years or more of experience performing as a LADBS Deputy Building Inspector on large-scale projects.
- This includes overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects.
- Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and city officials.
- Expertise in identifying and addressing code violations, ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards.
Education/Training
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- CAL OSHA-30 certification
- Fall protection and harness training
Element-Specific Requirements/Notes
- May assume other duties as required/needed.
- May be required to work various shifts as needed.
- Flexibility to work beyond regular shift preferred.
- Shall be open to work modified schedules, including nights and weekends, as dictated by the contractors' work activities and accelerated project schedules.
- ***Work schedule: 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
Salary : $128,960 - $135,200
