Public Works Superintendent

Job Title : Superintendent - Public WorksLocation : Los Angeles Metropolitan Area; Pasadena, CAMorillo Construction, Inc. is a full-service general building and general engineering contractor located in Pasadena, California. Our emphasis is on public works construction in Southern California, where we are providing a growing list of expertise to our public and private sector clients. We have a dedicated staff that is experienced with the special requirements of green building.We are seeking a Superintendent with extensive Public Works experience (in Los Angeles, preferred) whose primary role will be to oversee the daily activities of your assigned project(s) for its safe and successful completion. Responsible for the completion of special projects as may be assigned.What we are offering : Health Benefits including medical, vision, & dental plans401KVacation and sick time policyResponsibilities : Manage project schedule and critical path activities, and create a work breakdown schedule with logistics, costing, and resource-loading for master schedule.Plan, schedule, and coordinate subcontractor work, and verify that subcontractors’ post-bid scope of work matches their original bids’ scope of work. Verify the construction set of documents with the bid set documents.Ensure adherence to subcontracts and to General Contract.Issue proper notifications and requests to subcontractors and owners.Prepare and track proper documentation such as RFIs, RFCs, bulletins, long-lead items, change orders, SIS schedule, schedule updates and narratives, time impacts, dailies, as-builts, equipment rentals, company-owned equipment, project photos, etc. Prepare punch lists and facilitate the close-out processes for projects.Process applications for pulling permits and utility fees, as required.Coordinate billing percentages with subcontractors, and notify subcontractors of approved percentages.Conduct weekly subcontractor meetings as well as safety meetings, and enforce safety policies. Attend weekly Owner meetings.Approve subcontractor and vendor invoices and resolve subcontractor issues as needed.Assist in replacement of non-performing subcontractors and with non-committed work.Qualifications (REQUIRED) : Minimum 10 years experience as a Superintendent on Public Works projects $10M and above, in both a union and non-union environment with a general contractor. Preference will be given to those with experience in the Los Angeles area, and with LAUSD special requirements.Experience managing multiple project teams across a wide variety of fast track projects is required.Self-motivated, takes initiative, able to bring items to conclusion.Experience in Procore and MS Project / P6.Good problem-solving skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Expedition.Interpersonal skills that stress a team mentality.Qualifications (PREFERRED) : Management experience : coaching, feedback delivery, delegating and mentorship.Experience in managing, training and developing people.Experience with complex, fast paced, and high visibility projects.Reports to : President, Vice PresidentSalary Range : $115,000 - $130,000 D.O.E.NOTE : This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
