Position: Senior Estimator – Federal Construction

Location: St. Paul, MN (On-site Required)

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead and manage the full lifecycle of preconstruction efforts for design-build federal projects. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep experience in estimating from concept to close-out. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of all aspects of design-build construction, and the interpersonal skills to engage with clients, visit job sites, and mentor junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead end-to-end estimating efforts on design-build projects, from conceptual budgeting to final bid.
• Review project documents, perform quantity take-offs, and develop cost estimates and proposals.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and internal stakeholders during the design and preconstruction phases.
• Conduct occasional site visits to gather scope and logistics insights for accurate estimates.
• Meet with clients to clarify scope, align expectations, and present estimates.
• Support and mentor junior estimators, fostering development within the team.
• Work closely with leadership, project managers, and other departments to ensure a seamless transition from preconstruction to construction.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 15 years of experience in the construction industry with a strong understanding of various trades and building systems.
• At least 8 years of experience in estimating design-build projects, including full-scope preconstruction management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to represent professionally in meetings with clients and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in estimating software (such as Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, etc.).
• Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to St. Paul, MN—this is an on-site position.
