Morning Star Fields, established in 2022, is a pioneering bio-circular farm located on a transformed 276-acre former orange grove in Vero Beach, Florida. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Agronomist with expertise in hydroponic systems to join our innovative team.
As an Agronomist at Morning Star Fields, you will play a key role in our commitment to producing healthy, natural food and maintaining a balanced ecosystem. We are dedicated to using sustainable methods to grow diverse crops, including aromatic herbs, edible fruits, vegetables, nuts, flowering plants, and indigenous trees, while eliminating waste and avoiding non-natural substances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage hydroponic growing systems tailored to our diverse plant portfolio, optimizing plant health and yield.
- Oversee the growth and harvest of edible crops, herbs, flowering plants, and indigenous species.
- Monitor nutrient levels, pH balance, and water quality to ensure ideal growing conditions in hydroponic systems.
- Implement integrated pest management and disease control practices specific to hydroponics.
- Collaborate with farm managers, engineers, and technicians to improve system efficiency and support sustainable farming practices.
- Conduct research and trials to enhance plant growth, quality, and sustainability.
- Train and educate staff on best practices for hydroponic plant care and system maintenance.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a balanced horticultural ecosystem that aligns with our bio-circular, sustainability goals.
- Ensure the consistent production of high-quality ingredients for food products, animal feed, and other farm-produced goods.
- Stay current on industry advancements and emerging technologies in hydroponics and sustainable agriculture.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field.
- Must be a self-starter
- Proven experience in hydroponic farming, greenhouse operations, or controlled-environment agriculture.
- Extensive knowledge of plant nutrition, hydroponic nutrient formulations, and water chemistry.
- Experience with hydroponic systems such as NFT, DWC, aeroponics, or vertical farming.
- Strong commitment to environmental sustainability and ecological balance.
- Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions to improve crop performance.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Experience with automation and sensor technology in hydroponic farming is a plus.
- Familiarity with organic or sustainable hydroponic practices is preferred.
