This job requires completion of the “The Activities Coordinator Program” within eighteen (18) months of employment, or direct supervision and oversight person with this certification.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
Description
- Obtain required certification or provide proof of oversight by certified individual.
- Demonstrate involvement with all residents, staff, residents’ families, volunteers, and community resources.
- Maintain an updated resident’s interest list, as well as, individualized preferences and abilities for each resident.
- Complete activities assessments on all new admissions.
- Plan 14 hours of scheduled activities weekly, taking into consideration the unique needs and interests of all residents within the facility.
- Prepare a monthly calendar for planned activities and keep it posted in an easily accessible area, in large print.
- Update calendar as needed.
- Provide activities for residents that include social, recreational, diversion, intellectual, volunteer, and work-type themes.
- Meet with the administrator at least bi-annually to evaluate activities program and discuss strengths and weaknesses.
- Assist residents with transportation as related to activities program.
- Plan at least one outing every month.
- Take inventory and purchase supplies for activities as to operate within the facilities budget.
- Create a monthly budget and expense projection to be submitted with calendar for approval in the fourth week of the preceding month.
- Keep all pertinent receipts for submission to Administrator for review.
- Maintain self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each resident.
- Report and document any accidents/incidents to the Supervisor-In-Charge or activate the chain of command as appropriate.
- Work cooperatively with other departments within the facility, and relate favorably to persons outside of the facility.
- Respect the confidentiality of resident’s and their medical records.
- Uphold the rights of residents and assist residents in understanding these rights, as well as, the expectations of the facility.
- Assure proper treatment and handling of facility property and utilization of supplies.
- Be familiar with the facility policies and procedures, as well as, fire safety plans, emergency procedures, and chain-of-command.
- Complete job-related training as is required by the Administrator.
- Perform other related duties as delegated.
