Position Summary:
Morning Star Supportive Services is seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team. DSPs play a critical role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities by providing direct care, assistance with daily living activities, and opportunities for community integration. The ideal candidate is passionate about making a difference and committed to delivering high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Support individuals in achieving their goals outlined in their Individualized Service Plans (ISPs).
- Foster independence by teaching life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and personal care.
- Accompany individuals on community outings, medical appointments, and recreational activities.
- Implement behavior support plans and respond to challenging behaviors using approved techniques.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided, including progress notes and daily logs.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of clients at all times.
- Build positive and respectful relationships with clients, families, and team members.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Experience:
- Previous experience in caregiving or working with individuals with developmental disabilities (preferred but not required).
- Training will be provided for passionate candidates eager to learn.
- Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass background checks and comply with DDD requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to person-centered care.
