What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Programmer and Machine Operator position at Morning Star Tool?
Position Overview:
This position consists of operating various CNC machines, such as a Fadal VMC, Mazak Lathe, and Haas Multi-Axis Milling Machines. The operator is responsible for properly setting up new jobs as well as making sure the machine is working well, and producing quality products. We are a job shop so the parts would change frequently; being willing to set up and adjust new jobs as needed is a must. This position may also consist of supporting other areas of production such as deburring and inspecting parts.
This position will also require programming new jobs. This would include reading and interpreting technical blueprints, inputting the design specifications into Mastercam, creating and adjusting the machine cutting paths, and performing quality checks on the final product.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC lathe and milling machines as required
- Create new CNC programs as required
- Set up and operate CNC lathes, which may consist of loading/unloading machines as well as controlling and adjusting machine settings (e.g. speed)
- Deburr parts
- Inspect parts with precision measuring tools
- Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of both CNC Machine Operator and Programming experience preferred
- Competencies with G-Code and conversational programming
- Experience with Mastercam software
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus
- Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools
- Understanding of production procedures
- Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
- Ability to read blueprints and manuals
- Attention to detail
- Physical stamina and strength- requires standing for several hours at a time and operating heavy machinery
