Position Overview:
As an Activities Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting in the planning and leading of structured activities that promote relationship-building, emotional regulation, and personal development. Your role is vital in fostering a nurturing, therapeutic environment where youth feel valued, supported, and empowered.
As part of the Activities team you will:
- Assist in Developing and implementing recreational and therapeutic activities that align with the CARE Model principles, fostering engagement and emotional growth.
- Create a safe and inclusive environment where youth can explore interests, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.
- Collaborate with residential staff to integrate activities into daily routines, reinforcing positive behavior and social connections.
- Adapt programming to meet the individual needs and abilities of residents, ensuring participation.
- Encourage relationship-building between youth and mentors through structured and unstructured activities.
- Track participation and engagement, providing feedback on residents’ progress and adjusting activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate’s degree in Recreation, Psychology, Child Development, Education, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 year working with youth in a residential, educational, or recreational setting. Experience in trauma-informed care is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Creativity in planning and adapting activities.
- Ability to engage and motivate youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of therapeutic and trauma-responsive approaches.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
