What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cultural Outreach Instructor position at MORONGO BAND OF MISSION INDIANS?
The Culture and History Instructor will be committed to providing Morongo School students with an exceptional educational curriculum that appreciates a student’s limitless potential. Instruction will be a combination of Morongo history and culture under the direction of the Morongo Cultural Heritage Department. The instructor will create and deliver lesson plans that allow for overall comprehension of topics. The lessons should also inspire and invoke a desire to learn more about the topics taught. The instructor must be able to facilitate lessons with effective classroom management and age-appropriate instruction techniques for grades PreK-8.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters Degree preferred
- Two years instruction experience, either in a k-12 classroom, community college, or at the university level either as a lecturer, professor, or Teaching Assistant
- Capable of creating a new classroom curriculum tailored to the Morongo Band of Mission Indians' history, culture, and traditions. Also have the potential to research, teach, engage, and connect with the concepts to help prepare the students.
- Experience and confidence in creating educational curriculum and lesson plans from various resource materials
- Develop and create age-appropriate and compelling lesson plans centered on Morongo Culture and History
- Deliver and facilitate lesson plans
- Manage classroom
- Collaborate with Morongo Cultural Heritage Department
- Meet weekly to evaluate and improve instruction methodologies and progress
- Provide support and guidance to Morongo Cultural Heritage Department Staff
- Strong Comprehension of academic and primary source documentation
- An “all hands on deck” mentality
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of classified/sensitive information.
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned.
