Description
Under the direction of the CAO, the Energy Manager plays a critical role by ensuring that all energy systems are used optimally. Their expertise contributes significantly to formulating strategic energy policies and practices that align with both economic and environmental goals. The Energy Manager also researches, develops, writes, and manages grants with a specialization in renewable energy programs, tribal grants, and U.S. Department of Energy Grants.
- Conduct energy audits and prepare energy conservation reports.
- Develop and manage energy conservation programs.
- Analyze energy usage data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate with facility and utility department heads to implement energy-efficient technologies.
- Monitor utility bills and verify energy savings.
- Advise on procurement of energy-efficient equipment.
- Promote sustainable energy policies within the organization.
- Research and identify available energy grant opportunities from various government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources.
- Collaborate with internal teams to assess project needs and eligibility for grant funding.
- Write grant proposals that effectively communicate project goals, objectives, and potential impact.
- Ensure compliance with all grant requirements, including deadlines, budget limitations, and reporting obligations.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to gather necessary data, testimonials, and supporting documents for grant applications.
- Review and edit draft proposals to ensure clarity, coherence, and alignment with grant guidelines,
- Stay informed about changes in grant regulations, policies, and funding priorities,
- Provide guidance and support to colleagues involved in grant-related activities,
- Track and manage multiple grant applications simultaneously, prioritizing deadlines and milestones,
- Monitor awarded grants to ensure funds are utilized appropriately and report on project progress and outcomes to funding agencies.
Requirements
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's Degree in preferred areas of Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field. Certification as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) preferred. Position requires completion of three years of related experience.
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications :
Excellent research, writing, analytical, spreadsheeting, graphics and communication skills.
Substantial knowledge of low carbon and / or renewable energy or fuels industry. Knowledge of energy modeling software and data analysis tools. Must possess proven problem-solving ability.
