Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Laboratory Technician Position Summary
The Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS / CLS / MT) / Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for the performance, evaluation and correlation of test procedures and assists in the selection and evaluation of test methods. The MLS / MLT participates in the education and professional development of laboratory personnel, new employees and students and may participate in the performance of routine administrative and non-routine technical functions.
Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Laboratory Technician Position Requirements
2 year Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT)
or 4 year Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
or meets one of the eligibility requirements as listed with ASCP for certification as an MLT or MLS
Entry Level
Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Laboratory Work Schedule
The Laboratory is staffed seven days a week, twenty-four hours per day.
Personnel may be assigned to work mostly one shift or may have a rotational schedule consisting of duty on day, evening and night shifts. Both options may include weekends.
Rotational coverage of holidays.
Expected to work overtime and / or additional weekends in times of staffing shortages, emergencies and unexpected increases in workload.
Expected to respond in the event of a disaster.
