The Morphy Auctions Firearms Team Manager serves as the lead administrator of the Firearms team. This position oversees in-house firearms processes and inventory, in addition to sales and expert support for the division, the person should have a broad knowledge of firearms with expertise in a specific genre. It is critical that understanding and fostering the mission of the company to clients, consignors, staff and business partners of Morphy Firearms and Dan Morphy Auctions be maintained.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Produce high quality, precise and detailed consistent work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures. Thus, ensuring that job routines can be completed on time and error-free.
- Increase team job knowledge and competency through structured step-by-step training.
- Strong people skills are necessary to communicate clearly and interact with the team, clients, and sales prospectives in a positive way.
- Handle sales overflow and support the sales goals through closing deals and collections for the division. Work with consignors and buyers aiding in both the acquisition and disposition of items.
- Provide expertise in a specific firearms genre (Example: Winchesters, Colts, Sporting Arms etc.)
- Attend select firearms/militaria shows.
Specific Responsibilities
- Admin for FFLs and Eform accounts
- Renew and manage firearms licenses on behalf of Morphy Auctions
- Work with compliance specialists to keep up to date with changes in laws and regulations.
- Manage the productivity of the firearms experts to meet auction deadlines.
- Communicate with management on the status of productivity in preparation for auctions through written and verbal reports.
- Manage outside contractors/experts including evaluating need, workload, scheduling, budgeting and expense aspects.
- Manage payroll and budget.
- Evaluate possible returns and/or partial refunds of items that have been sold in a firearms auction.
- Oversee safe firearms handling at all times and verify that all firearms contain no ammunition
- Assist in coordination with firearms shows
- 10% overnight travel as required
- All other responsibilities as assigned
Oversee and assist when needed
- Firearms safety program to all staff including non-firearms staff.
- Processing incoming inventory according to procedures.
- Organizing the storage of the inventory.
- Facilitate the location of items not yet catalog or photographed
- Post auction evaluation of unsold items
- Work with the sale team to either re-consign or return to consignor
- Work with the marketing team in promoting auctions, specific items and collections
- Occasional support for pick-ups.
Qualifications
- Strong general understanding of firearms and preferred expertise in one genre of firearms
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the ability to handle confidential information and multiple priorities as directed by immediate supervisor.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, establish priorities and work collaboratively with members of a diverse community.
- Formal or hands on project management skills preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook email)
- Efficient with inventory, sales and CRM applications and technology
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds is required
- College degree preferred but not required
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT/EFFORT:
Duties require that employee interact with staff, clients, consigners, consultants, catalogers and outside constituencies. Position involves frequent movement. Walking, standing, bending, twisting and frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds is required. Handling of firearms on a daily basis.
