Job Description:
Morris School District 54 is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team in the District Office. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to be a team player, maintain confidentiality and follow through on tasks until completion in order to meet deadlines. The candidate will perform clerical duties such as track district purchasing, track funds received as well as expenditures, maintain records for reporting to the Illinois State Board of Education, assist in IMRF and TRS reporting, prepare payroll, perform other tasks as the administration may assign.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree in Accounting/Data processing preferred.
- A minimum of 2-5 years experience in an accounting, bookkeeping or related position.
- Bookkeeping experience in a school district business office or other similar experience is preferred.
- Ability to draft clear and professional correspondence.
- Technology proficient including word processing, Excel and Google Workspace as well as experience with accounting and financial software.
- Knowledge of SDS, PowerSchool and Frontline preferred.
- Ability to work in a deadline driven environment.
Duties:
- Prepare and process payroll and track employees paid time off.
- Process accounts payable and receivable.
- Prepare monthly payable reports to District 54 Board for approval and other reports as needed.
- Process and mail checks following approval from the Board of Education.
- Process deposits for district bank accounts and activity funds, maintaining records.
- Gather and maintain information necessary for the district’s annual audit.
- Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Access and assist with confidential district information including student fees, employee benefits, retiree post-employment stipends, legal and other invoices.
- Manage student fees through PowerSchool.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Administration.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Position is considered a year round position with 260 working days
- Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000 pending education and experience
