Purpose:
The Bedding Category Buyer is responsible for driving strategic growth and market share in our bedding department. This role will lead all aspects of product selection, inventory management, and sales strategies to position our company as a premier destination for sleep solutions. By leveraging market insights, fostering key vendor relationships, and collaborating across departments, the Bedding Category Buyer will create a compelling and profitable bedding assortment that meets diverse customer needs and drives overall business growth.
Core Responsibilities:
Strategic Product Selection and Assortment Planning
- Analyze market trends, customer preferences, and sales data
- Curate a compelling product mix that meets business objectives
Inventory Management and Optimization
- Monitor stock levels and turn rates
- Ensure optimal inventory balance across product lines
Vendor Relationship Management
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and exclusive deals
- Maintain strong partnerships with key suppliers
Pricing Strategy and Margin Management
- Set competitive pricing while maintaining profitability
- Meet or exceed margin and financial performance targets
Sales and Promotion Planning
- Collaborate with marketing on promotional strategies
- Identify opportunities for special buys or promotions
Performance Analysis and Reporting
- Track key metrics (e.g., sell-through rates, GMROI)
- Provide regular performance updates to leadership
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, marketing, and store teams
- Ensure smooth product launches and promotions
Market Intelligence and Competitive Analysis
- Stay informed on industry trends and competitor activities
- Conduct store visits and competitive shopping
Quality Control and Customer Satisfaction
- Monitor product quality and address issues promptly
- Analyze customer feedback to inform buying decisions
Forecasting and Demand Planning
- Project future sales and inventory needs
- Adjust plans based on market conditions and business performance
Key Requirements:
- BA/BS Degree
- 5 or more years Buying/Merchandising experience
- Management experience
- Ability to travel to different company showrooms
- Ability to travel to out of state furniture markets (6 times/year)
