Purpose :
The Inventory Control and Accuracy Specialist will help in completing and assisting with the workload and direction of items being returned, ensuring all tasks are completed with accuracy. These tasks include but are not limited to handling returned merchandise, dispositioning, rewrapping products, recycling, maintaining inventory records through RF scanners, and collaborating with other associates from the warehouse and Delivery Teams to resolve issues. The Inventory Control & Accuracy Specialist will also support as needed with the up-to-date record keeping of all inventory for the organization. This includes cycle counts, reporting and analysis of inventory, as well as reviewing accuracy within the inventory system.
General Description of duties :
- Support supervisor and manager with the tasks required for receiving returned items back into the distribution center.
- Help lead and direct completion of tasks for the team by assisting with providing team member assignments including monitoring of break times, daily start times and end times.
- Assists with the training of team members as needed.
- Manages / Reads reports, shipping orders, or follows verbal / written instructions from supervisor, or manager to resolve order issues.
- Handles all returned merchandise from Morris or 3rd party delivery teams by partnering with 3PL dock supervisor.
- Inspects returned merchandise for damages and determines next course of action for said products.
- Ability to identify merchandise that may be marked incorrectly, identify model numbers, serial numbers, vendors, and other information from labels to aid in ease of identification.
- Adjusts errors in inventories and investigate / report reasons for discrepancies through root cause analysis including those for delivery exceptions.
- Ensures that the necessary equipment is in working order to complete tasks and report any issues.
- Keep team members informed about policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and objectives as changes occur.
- Complete and maintain detailed and accurate work records including all quality control procedures, daily checklists, SOPs, closing check lists and ensures proper handoff between team leaders.
- Verifies and inspects that daily workload is complete and meets company quality standards, is completed according to company SOPs and that all items have been appropriately tagged and scanned.
- Collaborates with the team to identify ways to improve department effectiveness; implements viable ideas.
- Resolves conflicts that arise among team members.
- Ensures and inspects that teams are handling furniture items in accordance with manufacturer specifications, including unboxing, assembly and identifying if all parts are present upon return.
- Tracks and assists in cycling of inventory in respective areas.
- Responsible for proper use and care of warehouse equipment to include RF scan guns, radios, tablets, etc.
- Ensures team is responsibly following all safety processes, including the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Organize warehouse and work area for safety, cleanliness, and order at all times.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a Distribution Center / Warehouse environment.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Depending on the work area, other duties will be assigned.
