Position Overview:
The Director of Development and Communications will be responsible for designing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies to raise annual revenue, manage internal and external communications, and enhance employee, community, and stakeholder engagement. This role will drive fundraising initiatives, cultivate donor relationships, lead grant writing efforts, and ensure clear and consistent messaging across all channels, including social media.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising and Development:
- Develop and implement an annual fundraising strategy to generate revenue from individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and special events.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, prospects, and sponsors to secure major gifts, planned gifts, and sponsorships.
- Oversee and execute fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives, ensuring maximum engagement and financial support.
- Lead grant writing efforts, preparing and submitting high-quality grant proposals aligned with organizational goals and donor priorities.
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to identify fundraising opportunities, set goals, and track progress.
Communications and Public Relations:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy to increase visibility of Morrison Center’s mission, programs, and impact.
- Oversee the creation of content for internal and external communications, including newsletters, social media, website, and press releases.
- Manage social media platforms and ensure consistent messaging across all online and offline channels.
- Collaborate with teams to create compelling materials that reflect the organization's values and priorities.
- Enhance community outreach and engagement strategies, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and media outlets.
Internal Engagement:
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure all communications reflect the center’s mission, programs, and successes.
- Develop internal communications strategies to keep staff and volunteers informed and engaged in fundraising efforts.
- Provide training and support for staff and board members on development and communications efforts to ensure consistent messaging across the organization.
Leadership and Management:
- Manage and supervise the Development and Communications team, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.
- Work closely with executive leadership to align fundraising and communications goals with organizational priorities.
- Represent Morrison Center at donor meetings, public events, and in the media.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit development and communications, with a strong track record of meeting fundraising goals.
- Proven experience in managing social media, creating compelling content, and developing communication strategies that resonate with diverse audiences.
- Strong experience in grant writing and securing foundation and government funding.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, fundraising platforms, and social media management tools.
