Morrison Container Handling Solutions, the leading container handling expert in the packaging industry, is seeking a Machinist – 1st and 2nd Shifts to join our busy production team and be responsible for the safe operation of a variety of Morrison equipment.

- Review Bills of Materials, Parts Orders and MFG lists daily; with Department Leads, determine job priorities for the day.
- Together with Production Operations Manager, Timing Screw Lead, and other Lead Machinists, schedule flow of jobs through production for optimal efficiency; monitor progress throughout the day to ensure standards for timeliness and production value are met .
- Using data supplied by Engineering, determine and execute proper bores, tapers, counter-bores, hubs and finished outside diameter on raw plastic.
- Collaborate with engineers to improve parts, correct errors on prints, and/or address other discrepancies; inform Production Operations Manager of any such discrepancies.
- Seek out and drive improvements in tools and/or processes; implement change to benefit the specific department as well as overall production operations.
- Choose proper cutters and drills based on parameters of each specific job.
- Observe progress of machining and watch for errors; inspect finished work for accuracy.
- Daily maintenance of the machine and work area, including a check of coolant and weigh lube levels, emptying chip barrel, disposal of scrap material, organization of tools and sweeping; other maintenance as scheduled.
- During machining of MFG parts or other parts requiring long machining times, perform work or maintenance on other machines.
- Read and respond to emails pertaining to machining job functions.
- Education: High School Diploma. Additional certifications (CNC Mill/Lathe operation courses, etc.) are highly preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience running CNC Mill/Lathe, including set ups and programming are desired.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and maintain demanding physical operations throughout the workday.

- Mechanical Skills: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance; committed to the safe operation of machinery.
- Technical and Design Skills: Ability to read blueprints, drawings and models, and analyze such plans for proper use; familiarity with design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
- Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of parts.
- Attention to Detail: Operating the equipment requires constant management of minute details; small errors can be extremely costly, both in money and time, and across multiple departments.
- Organization: Strong ability to plan, prioritize and multi-task; the Material Handler/Stockroom Assistant will juggle multiple tasks and work areas simultaneously, and meticulous organization is essential.
- Computer Skills: Ability to navigate and use a desktop computer, including internet browsers, email and word processing.
- Math Skills: Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
