What are the responsibilities and job description for the FT Temp - Customs Entry Writer position at Morrison Express?
Role & Responsibilities:
1. Documentation Preparation and Submission – Prepare and submit necessary documents for the import of goods.
2. Regulatory Compliance – Ensure compliance with all relevant customs regulations, laws and trade agreements. This includes understanding tariff classification, valuation and rules of origin.
3. Tariff and Duty Calculation – Determine correct classifications and calculate duties, taxes and other fees associated with the importation of goods.
4. Liaison with Customs Authorities – Act as a liaison between the importer and customs authorities to address any issues that arise during the clearing process.
5. Clearance Process Management – Manage the customs clearance process to ensure timely and efficient movement of goods.
6. Record Keeping – Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all transactions and communication in accordance with MEC policies.
7. Problem Resolution – Address and resolve any issues that may arise during the customs clearance process, including dealing with customs holds and inspections.
8. Updating Knowledge – Stay updated with changes in customs regulations, trade policies, and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and efficiency.
Coordination with other parties – Coordinate with carious parties involved in the supply chain including shippers, importers and freight forwarders.
Qualifications:
1. Work Experience – 3-5 years relevant experience in customs brokerage
2. Attention to Detail – Accuracy is essential when preparing and reviewing documents
3. Strong Communication Skill
4. Strong Organizational Skills
