Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to patients in various healthcare settings. This role is vital in ensuring the comfort and well-being of individuals requiring assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical environment, particularly within inpatient settings such as teaching hospitals, medical-surgical units, or trauma centers.
Duties
- Assist patients with daily activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs and report any changes to nursing staff.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients, fostering a positive environment.
- Help with meal preparation and feeding as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas.
- Support nursing staff with basic medical tasks as directed, including assisting in emergency situations.
- Engage in patient education by teaching proper care techniques for ongoing health management.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare teams in various departments including Geriatrics, Emergency Medicine, and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
Experience
- Previous experience as a Personal Care Assistant or similar role is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures related to inpatient care is beneficial.
- Experience working in diverse settings such as Level I or Level II Trauma Centers is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
