What are the responsibilities and job description for the Courthouse Security Deputy position at Morrow County Sheriff's Office?
The Primary function of the Courthouse Security Deputy will be to provide a safe and secure Municipal Court environment, serve as a liaison between the Judge and Sheriff's Office. Specific daily assignments to accomplish this function will be implemented per policy.
Employee will be on probation per the current union contract.
Per the union contract, the posting period will be five (5) consecutive days, not including the posting date.
Role in Critical Incidents – The Courthouse Security Deputy will be familiar with the emergency operations manual of the Morrow County Municipal Court. During any critical incident occurring on the property, the Courthouse Security Deputy will act as a liaison between the Morrow County Municipal Court staff, Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, and other emergency resources.
Courthouse Security Deputy Daily Schedule- The Courthouse Security Deputy will normally work from 0800 until 1600 hours, Monday through Friday. The Courthouse Security Deputy will mark in and out of service each day using their portable radios. The Courthouse Security Deputy is not permitted to leave their assigned post, unless such emergency is issued by the Sheriff of Morrow County. The Courthouse Security Deputy is to eat their lunch at their assigned post. Morrow County Municipal Court will be billed for holidays, and any courthouse closures outside normal operating hour’s such as a level 3 snow emergency
This position will have limited requirements of the following; drives police cruiser; serves court orders and written processes as directed by courts; prepared accurate, concise and detailed reports and records relating to daily activities; patrols assigned area(s) of the county; responds to calls for services (e.g. domestic disputes, accidents, burglaries, etc.); observes area to detect suspicious activity; writes traffic and other citations; operates firearm, radio, radar, and other police-related equipment; communicates with fellow officers, complainants, suspects, victims, etc., through speech and writing; conducts investigations (e.g. interviews witnesses, collects evidence, search crime scene, etc.); testifies in court; maintains security of county facilities; prisoner transports to and from county facilities; work with other departments requiring assistance to incidents and/or emergency situations as requested; performs dispatch duties as assigned; performs escort duties as necessary; attends meetings, training and certification programs as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must meet all requirements to be a deputy sheriff, i.e. a Law Enforcement certification from the Ohio Peace Officer’s Training Council.
2. Must pass a background investigation.
3. Must pass employment CVSA and drug screen.
4. Must have good driving record and a valid Ohio Driver’s License.
5. Must have good work record at current job assignment.
6. Must be able to get along with fellow employees and the public
7. Must be able to make good decisions and to take charge of emergency situations.
8. Must have and maintain a home telephone number.
SELECTION PROCESS
