The Pastry Chef Assistant is pivotal to the success of our culinary team, assisting our Pastry Chef in creating diverse desserts and baked goods, including skilled confectionery. This role involves daily preparation of pastries and baked goods for both à la carte and banquet services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Measuring and weighing ingredients like flour, sugar, butter, and eggs.
- Ensuring freshness and quality of all ingredients.
- Conduct quality checks on all products, ensuring high standards are met.
- Communicate product shortages and equipment issues to the Pastry Chef.
- Adhere to established portioning and presentation guidelines.
- Manage food item counts meticulously, preventing discrepancies between required and prepared quantities.
- Schedule the production of baked goods to guarantee a supply of fresh offerings at all times.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely, following manufacturer instructions.
- Uphold exceptional safety, sanitation, and organizational standards in the workstation.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
- Commit to punctuality, arriving for shifts in proper uniform and ready for work.
- Foster professional relationships with colleagues.
- Contribute to a memorable and positive dining experience for guests.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- A solid foundation in professional cooking and pastry arts.
- Knowledgeable in safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.

- Ability to remain composed and efficient under pressure.
- Problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and organization.
- Dedication to quality service and a deep understanding of food and beverage.
- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of basic baking techniques and processes, including ingredient handling and dough preparation.
- Previous experience in country clubs, hotels, and/or fine dining restaurants preferred.
- Must manage physical tasks such as reaching, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 35 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting/moving of up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of standing for extended periods and adept at multitasking.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
