SUMMARY
Performs various duties in the receipt, storage, delivery and disposal of linen supplies for the Center, following established procedures, under the general supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Sorts, washes, dries, and fold all linens and personal laundry.
Labels items as needed.
Follows established infection control techniques for laundry processing.
Distributes all clean linen used in the Center.
Identifies each article of linen used in all areas of the Center.
Knows when quality of linen is no longer fit for resident use.
Assumes the duties of a Housekeeping Aide when required.
Communicates with Executive Housekeeper, concerning quality and quantity of linen.
Communicates with Nursing Department concerning their needs for linen.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Proficient in English language – ability to read and write.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
